Adrian - if you want snow - take a look here (my yard - the window is glass as is the camera lens - to keep it on 'glass board' theme LOL) . Janice - I wish I knew who made your pitcher. My neighbour had a blue one that belonged to her grandmother but alas it met with an accident. Would love to know who made it, so I could search for one. Marson

dee47ish, is your round or eight sided? Is it footed? FYI it was made in 1910 to 1921... if it is not a reproduction.

The one shown on the auction link you linked... (If that is a open auction, it should not be displayed on the glass board... rules you know! ) But that one looks too me like some funny coloring! Wait around for Carma our regular resident Carnival Glass expert to pop in and he will.

also if yours is eight sided your in for some big bucks.. if it is aqua and or aqua opalescent you will still do well on your 25cents. Good luck on your sale.

Ken--When I said "I wonder if mine would go for that" I was referring to the Cambridge amethyst ball jug I have. So the "uncataloged" pitcher is a $300 item? On ebay? Hypothetically, if I were to list it on ebay, would it be better to list pitcher & 3 tumblers as one lot, or list the pitcher by itself? I'd probably stick to one lot if I had at least 4 tumblers.

Mary Pat--I've been known to drive 2 hours for the right stuff. I'll send you an email through ebay in a minute, and you can reply with the juicy details. Thanks--Bob

Good evening. Just returned from an estate auction where I bought a couple of pieces of glass. I rarely buy glass as I am more of a pottie but I did get a Fostoria American 4 inch top hat and the large glass basket with the glass handle. But I also got this pretty pitcher which spoke to me for some reason. It stands about 7 1/2 inches tall and has a rough pontil on the bottom. The floral designs are all hand painted, and it had the reeded handle. I am hoping someone might be able to tell me what I have. I may keep it even if it is nothing special. I just like it that much. Thanks in advance for any assistance...Janice from the pottery board.

Marypat, thinking over what you said...about those kinds of prices..at a few hundred bucks a pop maybe it's worth it to the realtime seller to keep something @ an extrordinary amount of price; the seller in the realtime (applicable to eBay too) store has only to make one sale a week to make as much money (profit) as someone who sells stuff for the real price....
extrapilate, now theres a business model.
I've known this for years. Don't forget to tell them in the listing description that shipping starts @ $28.00 in the listing, as long as they're (buyers) iz beeing so jenerus.

Hay, is there a way to make a search for the '$' sign? try it before you answer. thanks

Thought you all may get a tickle out of this display at a very nice shop with aisle and aisle of treasures... but one large sectioned off area is all done in what they refer to as Desert Glass out here... I know you all believe it is damaged glass... as the sun/light has damaged the original 'crystal' clear, but this room with assorted china closets, side boards, cabinets, and table displays was a bit mind boggling. And the prices shocked me! And they must be getting those prices to hold that kind of rented space at this area of the City of Orange at the circle where all the nice antique shops are. DCB could not get over it. Well, done and an accurate hand out there on the table in lavander paper telling about the history of Desert Glass. Because it reminds one of the desert near Palm Springs at sunset I suppose. The area of just this glass was as big as my front patio and designed in the style of the '1920's. From lamps and record players to carpet and furniture. We really enjoyed, as were others from far away places. It would take me a couple days to do those shops at 'the circle' of Orange, and certainly DCBev, did not have the stamina to maintain... here is one part of the room. (Fran, next time your down here, hopefully with DH and the coach, we will go to Orange... and they can do the Saturday classic car show here in Huntington Beach)

Nice display!

Speaking of Cambridge, I was in a shop yesterday full of beads, yarn, and potpourri because it said "antiques" on the window. I ran through it in about 30 seconds, and was heading for the door when the lady asked if I was looking for anything in particular. She said she was really "out of the antiques business" but she asked what I looked for. I said glassware, and she perked up and said "can you tell me what these are?" She showed me a set of 8 Cambridge nude stems! The only problem was, someone had already told her she could get about $250 apiece for them on ebay, although they didn't really tell her what they were. After I heard that I knew I wouldn't be buying them from her. So I told her exactly what they were and that a more likely ebay price would be $50-$70 each, since they were the black stems w/crystal bowls. And I left with nothing--Bob

Franku6222, the only one I know for sure is the last pic, is Anchor Hocking "Early American Prescut", which was their imitation line of EAPG. Mostly made mid-century to the 1980's, and it was a coaster.

Good Evening All

shellyrae37 I think the term you are looking for is iridescent. Your bowl is iridescent, but I cannot ID it further. Floragold is a pattern made by Jeannette glass. Iridescent finish on glass looks a bit like marigold carnival, but it usually lacks most the the rainbow color effect of carnival.

Thank you. Sorry for the time here. I alsmost had it all set up and hit the wrong key and lost the whole thing.
http://auctionhealth.com/pub/038F.jpg First I think this is a Fostoria condiment tray but I can not find anything to confirm this. It is 8 3/8" across those little handles.
http://auctionhealth.com/pub/0390.jpg As you can see on this relish the panel alternate in height. It is 6 1/2" across.
http://auctionhealth.com/pub/0391.jpg I think this is a berry bowl. It has a 4 petal flower pressed pattern.
http://auctionhealth.com/pub/0392.jpg This looks like another berry bowl with a detailed pattern making up a flower form.
http://auctionhealth.com/pub/0393.jpg This one has tiny raised lines in it so I think it is some sort of coaster.
Again thank you for letting me ask.

Thanks again, Bob, for teh jump start on my research, I was able to find out a bit about it based on the little bit of info you gave me. I also found out no. 555 is also called Mr. B, which appears to be the more popular name for it? At any rate, Mr. B showed some promise on e-bay, whereas Vermilion didn't show much...

I realize I've been singing a solo for the last several minutes, so I'll come back later.

I bought an piece of art glass, a bowl, that has a label on it saying handcrafted Canada, and it's signed and dated 1987 but I can't read the name and the rest of the label has been wiped off. Any ideas how to look into the mfg. and artist? The owners of the estate - he invented the 5th wheel and she started Calico corners. They had really neat stuff and $ was no object.

Thanks Dave & Ken--I already tried the glass etch web site & replacements for "lotus" & "water lily." On replacements all I got was pages of Lotus Glass, or as they insist on calling it, "Glastonbury/Lotus." That's what made me think of Lotus Glass. I can check the Lotus book in my mall. I think they have the Wheeling book, too. Yep, Ken, those are some wild tumblers--Bob

Bob, I'd say that abok0009.jpg is definitely a Lotus flower, and Lotus leaves. When growing in habitat, Lotus plants typically bloom at the onset of the dry season, and because water sometimes is present over the muck in which they grow, but sometimes the muck dries out, this causes the flower stems to grow up, then when dry they go curly-que, but a brief rain will cause the stems to grow up some more, etc. Looks like whoever did the etch was familiar with the actual growing habits of wild lotus, and wasn't just copuing pictures out of a flower book. glass*usa: Bob speaking of tumblers/glasses...heres some that after I got home earlier this week I said "why?", but we've all said "why/" a time or two. I think they came out of a cathouse they're so ungodly gaudy. Guess I was momentarily mesmerized by their flash. Bad judgement on my part I'm sure, but the were pretty cheap. Not bad size at 6", would have loved to have seen the pitcher that went with them, but it was probably broken at a turn of the century Halloween party. Ken

glass*usa: Bob it's a match with the 937 variant in Welkers so it's 99% positive on the attribution. Lotus did some Cambridge blanks as did Wheeling so it certainly could be one of those. I checked HMW2 for a match in Lotus, but came up empty, but HMW2 really doesn't cover that many Lotus etches. Ken

Thanks Ken--So you'd say it's definitely the Cambridge pitcher? I was sure it was Gloria, but I was so busy checking the condition, I didn't look closely at the etching. It was pretty cheap anyway. Only got 3 tumblers, though. It wouldn't be a Lotus Glass etching, would it? Did they etch Cambridge blanks?--Bob

Linda--I don't know of any marked Fenton glass that wasn't made by Fenton. Fenton hasn't been known for selling off molds. Usually they keep them forever & re-issue items when you least expect it. The Heavy Grape pieces I've seen look like decent quality. Maybe yours was made on an off day--Bob

glass*usa: Bob that looks like the 937 variant because the regular 937 handle is not rounded at the top, it comes out at a straight 90 angle. Good news is there is a 937 variant in Welker's book with the rounded handle. The 937 is a 68 oz. pitcher. The etch is nothing I've seen in Cambridge, although I do not have the uncataloged book & there are several non-typical etches. One of these days I'm going to get the uncataloged book. Soory I can't help more. Ken

Looking for ID on this pink etched pitcher & tumblers. I thought it was Cambridge Gloria, but I wasn't paying attention. The flowers look more like water lilies. Wonder if it could be a Cambridge #937 pitcher. It's a flattened ovoid shape. Holds 64 oz and is 8 1/2" tall. Has a 13 panel optic. The tumblers are 5 1/4" tall and hold 12 oz. i_deal_it ~ Good 60-degree afternoon, all, spring is in the air. Terry, I meant to get back to you the other day to thank you for taking the banner off. I don't recall if you're the one who asked why I'm running two versions of Windows, all I can say is it isn't intentional. Last fall, suddenly a sign-in to Windows pop-up appeared on my desktop, I've never had that happen. If I hit "cancel", it opens one version of windows, if I enter a password, it opens another. There are several differences between the two. Once in awhile I get the blue screen that says Windows needs to be reconfigured but I run into a dead end doing that, just haven't had time to get over to Tom Coyote to see what's going on. DoRi

glass-junquee , There really is no such thing as "Eames era", that is just something sellers made up and others have latched onto. Charles and Ray Eames were designers from the 1940s - 1970s and anything truly "Eames" was designed or made by them. At the same time period they were in business there were many other designers and manufacturers making things, but that in no way ties them to Eames. That would be like saying that anything made today is "Ralph Lauren or Martha Stewart era" etc. It's good for sales though and it's become an accepted sales practice to use it, so "when in Rome" I guess lol! --- Mike

Kasi, Ken George etal, I don't want to play ebay police, was just curious about why educated people with computers and internet connections would pay for something that is totally free to them online. The coupons sold on ebay are only good for a certain amount of time, while signing up for them will insure you always have the latest coupon on hand for free and no shipping costs. I don't like the scammers any more than anyone else does, but the people who allow themselves to be scammed so easily are just as responsible in my opinion. If there was a place I could also report the victims for being so gullible, then I would definitely take the time to report both, but as it stands they all deserve each other, so why should I spoil their good thing lol! --- Mike

I talked to a nice lady at the pairpoint shop and she told me to mail the photo's to tom fiocco and he would be able to tell me if it was theirs or not. But he won't be in until Monday. So I"m off to wash and take really good pics and email it to them. It is definately hand made, wouldn't that be nice if it really was pairpoint. It is drop dead gorgeous.

kasi: Grand kids arrived so I'll have to be brief. Pairpoint is far different as it's truely hand-made, no machines involved. High end stuff. Alot of their production from the 20's through 50's isn't fully documented even by the better authors, new stuff pops up all the time. Three years ago on of the new references came out flaty stating Pairpoint didn't produce any optic...by accident I met somebody who knew the author, got his email & sent him pics of two pieces of optic, one vase in Canaria & a covered urn in amethyst. He came over to the house at that year's Springfield show & agreed that pairpoint indeed obviously made some optic after examining the pieces. It simply looks like a speciality shop item with the connectors & the design is more modern 20's, 30's, almost a deco approach. Might not be, but to me it looks like something they might have done. Mahnin'All: Probably won't be around much today either. Still getting things back to some degree of normal with the new computer. Got my anti-spyware programs re-installed. Got some of my bookmarks back. Got my scanner & printer software re-installed. My Adobe Photo 3.0 DID install just fine on this system & is up and running.

Still much to do today though. Will have to purchase & download WS-FTP program, so I can upload photos to my web space. My old one was saved on a floppy & of course this system doesn't have a floppy drive. When I first got the WS-FTP, 8 years ago, the home version was a free download. Now, they want $40. for it! But, have to have it.

Have to go to Norton & see if there is some way to switch my current subscription over to this computer. I paid for it & it doesn't expire until August.

Got to go to Rumford & get a phone line "splitter" so I can have both phone & computer at the same time. Got to pick up some CD-RW's too.

Then, I start re-writing lost files. (Auction TOS etc.) Much to do.

itsagas: That is indeed a Fenton Stretch JIP Hat Vase, shaped from the #106 Hat Vase.

Fran there were two cupons in the envelope! Hope you did not throw one out!

Glad you enjoyed.

Just came in to see you say it was a good place to eat... None here in close driving distance. I heard they are great.

I have missed days of the GB and to anyone with Birthday's, many more.

My friends with illness or sadness better days thoughts and prayers are attached.

To you with good auctions... go gals and guys!

Today was major cleaning Friday so I am too tired to share, but this last couple weeks have been interesting...

I miss you all and will get back to routine real soon.

Ruth, may be seeing you before too long... we may be going to Rochester in the next few months... will know more in a couple weeks.

Mary Pat tired and needs to get to bed.

Just popping in to shut down.Didn't take much pursuation, Dh has decided we will go to club. it was easy really, we don't have Foxtel and the Footie season has just begun,so some of the games are not televised on our local channel.Wouldn't have thought of that till I was talking to DD on thephone LOL..so my sales pitch was..wanna go watch the games on the big screen down the club LOL.

MaryMoon yes it is a beautiful place we live in. I am very lucky to have been born and breed here. And can't realy ever remember wanting to move. Maybe thats why I haven't done much travelling.
Julie..gotta go make myself look beautiful..well try to anyways LOL

Hi All... Crazy day... they seem to get crazier every day. I never got to the auction for the carnival glass I showed last night. Had a bit of a detour today so I never got to bid. Oh well.

Fran & Wee3Deez Couldn't agree more.. Been saying Joe Cocker since tryouts lol. But I love his voice, his attitude, his heart and his love for music and singing. Him and Chris are my favorites. Hope they make it but only time will tell.

It is late, I am heading up to my cloud and hope everyone has sweet dreams ~Mary

Deb Yeah would be very hard trying to get the young ones to comprehend some of our slang LOL..but then the littlies usually pick things up a lot easier and quicker then the oldies lol
HI Fran sounds like you had a lovely evening out. I was just siting here having a beer and thought it wold be lovely to have an evening out.But Dh didn't have the best of nights last night (pain), so won't even bother suggesting
Hi Linda yeah wished I had know some of the things I know now, a few years ago. That lamp base would be still with us or it would have been sold at a nice price, not given away. The fish attached to the sides were very much like the ones on that site by Cenedese and I suppose the term for the stem part would be latticino Oh well live and learn. I have made plenty of mistakes over the years and I am sure I have a lot more ahead of me LOL
Now I am going to join Dh in the TV room and spend some time with him..might do a little hint hint hint about going to the club, but I'll be very suttle, so as not to make him feel he has to take me out, especialy if he is not feeling up to it. Just few little suggestions thats all, a little chit chat and maybe the club might get mentioned LOL
Hooroo..Julie..might BBL

Deb Congratulations, I hope it keeps climbing.Let us know how it ends and of course give us the link to the auction when its finished.

Just a little observation here on my part and I have been noticing it happening more often. On the Australian Boards, they link to current auctions , their own auctions, any one else's auctions etc I have seen them link to a current auction and have a conversation good or bad about the seller and you know, nothing ever gets done about it.It is never seen as doing business,or never gets reported but just as someone asking a question. Just bemuses me as to different places, different country, different perception of rules. A bit like the word Bloody I suppose..here it is nothing and other places are offended.

sob sob sob every time I look at that site it reminds me of the lamp base I gave to a friend many years ago. It was about 2 feet tall. The stem/ or main section was like candy cane filled with gold specks and attached to on the sides were fish, striped colours and they too had the gold fleck in them..mmmm the things we do when we know no better. LOL

Good late evening!

Ken, I am also pretty much a carnival dunce..but that nappy is GORGEOUS! If the others change their minds you can always send it to me..lol

Adrian, that console set is also gorgeous. I don't know what it is, but spent several minutes admiring it. How are you?

Fran: OK, what do you think of the final 12? My only disappointment was that Gedeon had to go...he (like Simon) grew on me..he has really a wonderful voice in my opinion. Otherwise, teh top 12 is pretty much what I thought it would be..what do you think? (IF you're not around now, I'll check back in tomorrow also).

Hello Glassies...

I am hoping that someone can give me an idea of how to describe this heavy glass ashtray. It seems to have gold fleck whirls inside a heavy outside clear glass.

Thank you for any help in who made it and the design name.

I will try to add two links. It has been a while and I hope I remember how to do it.

Don No I do not have multiple ID's. I do know some of the glassies do.Some use different ones for selling, for buying and then they make up others to post on the boards, for what ever reasons they have. Some rebveal their multiple ID's and others hide them.I noticed and it appeared no one else noticed, the other day, some one mucked up and posted with another new ID asking a question. The only reason I noticed was I had saved that particular pic in my folder, cause the item interested me.
I just have my Id and Dh has an ID, that is all for us.We usually use Dh's for buying.
Do I remember reading you are now on holidays. If so enjoy.

Adrian the Cactus tumbler has been reproduced probably a new mould. The original has a flared rim the rproduction is straight. Generally the color is described as muddy for the new ones, it just doesn't look like the real thing. In the original the dots outling the leaves go along the full length in the reproductions they do not. HTH Got a picture? george

oh, while I'm thinking of it... George I have never had a piece of Rock crystal in plate form, so i don't know about straw marks being pronounced or plenty. But I have had a lot of depression era plates & some had none, while others had alot. Some plates I have had even had some in the same places. So I would think it wouldn't be a problem with a plate that had a few. I'd sure buy it if the price were right. My DD#2 has decided she wants red table settings. *L*

Nancy P. I thought that too, but two things make me wonder. One, it isn't marked, and two, the pink is too pink. Every swirl pattern from them I have personally seen, is orangy pink and marked. I will surely investigate the France possibility though. Thanks for peeking!

Adrian... I wasn't thinking of Fenton's Georgian, but of their Thumbprint. I have only seen comports and bowls, and vases in this pattern, and it's my understanding they acquired the moulds from another company, I wanna say Adams, but I am probably wrong. Thanks for teh pic though, makes me even more sure Shelly's goblets are not Georgian. NancyS

NancyS, your pink plate reminds me of Arcoroc (that's the French company) -- the pink does well on eBay (people are always putting it up as depression glass, but it does okay in its own right). And the blue piece looks like something I should know, but I can't place it. ~~ Nancy P.
